As you know TOEFL has four sections reading, listening, speaking and writing.

For reading section definitely reading a lot helps but it is also important to know what kind of reading helps more. Usually in TOEFL research, experiment and study result are common for reading section. So try to read this kind of comprehension instead of fiction.

For writing section often students try to impress the examiners with uncommon vocabularies and unusual sentence construction and ends up with a lot of mistakes, so unless the students is not sure about the spelling and proper use of a word in a sentence he should avoid it. Try it keep it simple but to the point. Keep it well organized. Read the topic and understand it. Think before you write. Write the key points as a rough. That will help you when you write the final draft.

For speaking, the student should practice expressing his view, principles, ideas, not just liking or disliking. Practice speaking a wide range of topic. Don't try to make the sentence complicated. Express it the way you feel easy.

For listening CDS, audio tape are available in the market practice listening from a audio tape is better than watching TV becasue that will prepare you for a real test audio listening.

01. Use Active voice in your answer:
I thing active voice is better to answer the questions. How ever there may need passive voice.

02.Avoid Conjunction mistake:
You should avid the conjunction (and, but, because, etc) mistakes. In exam you have to make sentences and most common in students is mistakes of conjunction.
03. Grammatical structures:
Take care in your sentence making. there may mistakes in common structure if.., so..that too..to etc. I think some students in TOEFL exam do these types of mistakes.
04. Comma and full-stop
use proper way the comma,semicolon,full-stops. The wrong use may change the sentence meaning.
5.Use topic sentences
Just as a essay’s structure provides a map for the entire essay, and topic sentence is a map for each middle (or body) paragraph. The topic sentence should tell the reader what is about to be discussed as well as state a reason that supports your thesis statement.

I have followed the tips of my TOEFL teacher. I think it will help improving this thinks. (If you mother language is not English) Though our mother language is not English. We are weak in English. So we can follow this thinks to improve.

1. Practice and Practice:
You should practice much more. No way to get high score but practice much more. Read a passage and listen the corresponding videos. Again read that passage without listening. Practice this with audio.

2. Listen English TV Programs:
You should listen to the CNN, NGC, BBC etc news programs. When get new words, take note and use dictionary to understand about. The new video is very helpful for understanding the topic

3. Maintaining and Understanding Key word:
You should take care of keywords. Keyword is the common words used in talks. Keyword may vary man to man and topic to topic.

4. Facial Expression Intonation of the Speaker
Take care of facial expression of a person while talking. In exam it is very much important, You can get the idea about total expression of any discussion. You have to follow the way of talking (certain, uncertain, angry, happy, serious or joking) Place of Talking is another important think.

5. Don’t afraid to Ask
In the dialog or interview, never afraid to say, "Could you repeat, please?" or "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that” You should understand the questions to answer.

6. Learn New Words
You should learn new words and enrich your vocabulary. When you get new words you should take notes and find it in dictionary.

7. Shorting Words
Some Shorted word is used in English talking. (For example: wanna instead of want to) Thought this varies places you have to take knowledge about this.

8. Phrase and Idioms

Here is solusion for TOEFL success. There are three main areas that you need to focus on if you want to improve your TOEFL score.

General language skills.

These skills are reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar. Wait a minute? The TOEFL doesn’t test grammar any more. Why do you include grammar?
Proper Test-taking-strategies.

These are the strategies you use to best approach the questions on the iBT TOEFL. For example, in the Reading section, should you first read the whole reading passage and then answer the questions about it or just begin answering questions?
Proper Time management.

In order to finish all the questions in the time given, you will need to pay attention to the clock on the screen or your own watch (Don’t use your cell phone for a timer!). In the reading section, the 1^st section of the iBT TOEFL, you have 20 minutes to answer 11-13 questions. That is approximately 1 ½ minutes for each question. Some questions will obviously take less time, but you should 3-4 questions in each 5 minute period. Check the clock regularly to make sure you are staying on pace.

In 2005, ETS is introducing a next generation TOEFL test. It is an Internet-based test (iBT) that will be delivered in secure testing centers around the world. The new TOEFL iBT test will be phased in starting September 2005. It will be offered fi rst in the United States in September 2005; and in Canada, France, Germany, and Italy in October 2005. It will be introduced in the rest of the world in 2006.
What is different about the TOEFL iBT test?
• It tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The emphasis will be on using English to communicate.
• It will be delivered via the Internet in secure test centers around the world. Once the new test is introduced in an area, the computer-based and paper-based tests will no longer be offered there.
• Some tasks require test takers to combine more than one skill. To succeed academically in Englishspeaking colleges and universities, students need to be able to combine their language skills in the classroom. New integrated questions, or “tasks,” help students build the confi dence needed to communicate in the academic environments they plan to enter. The new integrated tasks will ask test takers to:
• read, listen, then speak in response to a question
• listen, then speak in response to a question
• read, listen, then write in response to a question

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (or TOEFL, pronounced "toe-full") evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. It is an admission requirement for non-native English speakers at many English-speaking colleges and universities.

Additionally, institutions such as government agencies, licensing bodies, businesses, or scholarship programs may require this test. A TOEFL score is valid for two years and then will no longer be officially reported since a candidate's language proficiency could have significantly changed since the date of the test. Colleges and universities usually consider only the most recent TOEFL score.

The TOEFL test is a registered trademark of Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is administered worldwide. The test was first administered in 1964 and has since been taken by more than 23 million students.

Policies governing the TOEFL program are formulated with advice from a 16-member board. Board members are affiliated with undergraduate and graduate schools, 2-year institutions and public or private agencies with an interest in international education. Other members are specialists in the field of English as a foreign or second language.

The TOEFL Committee of Examiners is composed of 12 specialists in linguistics, language testing, teaching or research. Its main responsibility is to advise on TOEFL test content. The committee helps ensure the test is a valid measure of English language proficiency reflecting current trends and methodologies.
